The handicap system works similar to the golf handicap system. This will enable swimmers of all abilities, ages and sexes and teams to compete against each other. By submitting a time for a swim, a average time per 100m will be calculated and applied to your next swim to determine you handicap adjusted time. Your handicap will be adjusted after each swim completed. There will be two categories or grade handicap competitions for individuals. Those with handicaps under 45 secs per 100m, and those with handicaps over 45 secs per 100m.

The corporate team category requires 4 swimmers to create a team. The team event will work through the amalgamation of times and handicaps.

Awards will be given for the winners of the marquee ocean swim events like the Palm to whale Beach swim, and at the end of the season awards will be given to the seasons most improved swimmer, fastest swimmer, and longest swimmer.

This is not a stand alone event, swimmers need to enter the individual swims they wish to enter, and accept the terms and conditions of each of those swims. Most ocean swims can be entered at www.oceanswims.com
